Kegerator RIP

My 1st Kegerator (1987-2006)

The Freezer was a freezer back in 1987. It was a good freezer. But 2 years ago I purchased it and it became... a Kegerator. It dispense alot of beer. Alas all good things must come to an end. It died sometime this last month. It was 19 yrs old. It has served its purpose in life. Keeping meat frozen, and beer chilled. But now it has gone up to the big freezer heaven.

Good bye Kegerator. I'll have to replace you with another Chest Freezer, younger and stronger. But I'll never forget you my ol' Kegerator...

(now to find a way to recycle you...)

2 Months have passed

Its interesting it has been 2 months since my grandfather passed away. It's been hard on Grandma. The entire house reminds her of him. Its because he put in so much of himself into it. Pipe broken? no problem. fixed it. New sink? no problem installed. He was a craftsman, and he knew how to use his knowledge to fix and make all sorts of stuff that would be helpful.
Anyways there has been enough time that has passed to kinda tell you what happened those days. There are 2 stories from his passing I'd like to share. Kinda stuff that could freak you out. but it's the last memories as he passes on from life to heaven.
This 1st story is from my Grandmother. This story terrifies her because she doesn't understand it. It's a story of the last call from my Grandfather to her. And perhaps that's what terrified her. The night before he died, he called home. She answered the phone. And in his loud stern voice, the kind where he's agressive and arguing tone, "I'm coming home tomorrow!" and with that he hung up the phone. No explaination, no questions, just one startling statement. Grandma probably thought that Grandpa was coming home. But as it turns out, Grandpa was going home. He was going away. He was passing on to Heaven.
I'll never forget the call the next day. 6:00AM. the phone rings. dad answers and the first thing he says is, "I need you get up and listen to me." In my head i'm thinking: Grandpa died. There was no other reason for him to call me so early. And the serious, voice-cracking tone in his voice. The sound of holding back tears, the tears that are shed when one of your parents died. So he says it. "I have some really bad news. Sometime this morning Grandpa died." I wish I could say my heart sank, but it already sank when he called. Like I said no other reason.

The Second Story was told from their neighbor across the street. She tells how Grandpa always helpful and wanted to help everyone. Whenever they saw each other they would always wave to each other. A week before it was her husband that had driven Grandpa to the hospital. But that friday, she vividly remembers looking outside. At that moment she saw him. He saw her and waved hello to her just as normal. She waved back. She was excited that he was home. But only to find out a short time later that it wasn't him. And that Grandpa had died. So what did she see? Who was that waving to her? It could only be him in Angel Form. and he wasn't waving hello as normal. He was waving good bye to her.
Some people have claimed to see the angel of a loved one when they pass away. It is very supernatual. His ghost running around saying goodbye to his loved ones.

Those are the 2 stories I wanted to tell. They are stories that are supernatual, twilight zone, stories. But they are true. Take care.

Fantasy Sports: Hockey

We're way past the halfway point. But we're at Olympic Break for 2 weeks. So I wanted to give some observance on how my teams were doing this year.

Team One: Sliver
This league is Head to Head (your stats vs another teams stats) Currently I'm in 4th Place. I started out slow with a Loss and a Tie. But then went on a 8 game winning streak yet not in dominate fashion. Then somehow I got dominate. I think it was starting with my Goalies, who didn't start out that good but now have excelled. Kippersoff (CGY) started slow but quickly picked up the pace. Abeisher (COL) struggled the 1st half but is doing great now. Upfront is Marleau (SJ), Iginla(CGY) and Shanahan (DET), who are major forces. But each one has gone through some down time. Defence just gets the job done, but no major impact players. But still 4th Place is really good for a team I didn't think would do this good. I think the Head-to-Head definately benifits here.

Team Two: Team SJ
This league is Traditional (your season stats are ranked and the higher ranking, the more points). This team I really worried about. I almost gave up on it halfway through the season too. The goaltending was/is below par. My top goalie is rookie Huldqvist (NY-R). But I had drafted Nabokov (SJ) and Belfour (Tor). Belfour is getting wins, but not the numbers. Nabokov just absolutly stinks this year. He's making mental mistakes all over and suffering for them. He might lose his job to Toskala. up front I got young players:
  • Sidney Crosby (Pit) - Good player but the team around him sucks.
  • Patrick Marleau (SJ)
  • Ilya Kovochuk (ATL) - Interesting pick. I drafted him with the question mark: Is he going to play in the NHL or stay in Russia? He chose the NHL and has been a FORCE!
  • Defence: Lidstrom (DET) has been disappointing. He hasn't been himself. Don't know why either... Visnosky (LA) is becoming an upper tier defencesman
This team struggled at first. at one time I was in last place. but I slowly but surely started climbing the ladder. now i'm in 4th place! Awesome! this team is on the up and up!

Interestingly there was some guy who only drafted the Mighty Ducks players. Boy does his team stink. It's not good for Fantasy that's for sure. I take the cream of the crop for my team. He ends up with 1-2 players that are good but there are so many more players better than his 3rd or 4th player. And that's why drafting one team doesn't work

See you at the end of the season.

X-Men: Return of Apocalypse

I haven't talked about Comics lately so I want to touch on the upcoming Return of Apocalpyse storyline.
Apocalypse is one of my favorite villians. "Survival of the Fittest" If you are weak, you are not fit for his new world.
Way before House of M. Apocalypse merged with Cyclops during "The Twelve" story line. Then Cable and Jean Grey were able to split Cyclops from Apocalypse. And without a body, Apocalypse was eliminated from existance. Fast Forward, Cyclops's attitude changed, Jean Grey eventaully dies (again), And Cable, with a purpose (to kill Apocalpyse), roams around meeting up with other characters such as Domino, X-Force, and recently Deadpool.
After house of M, Apocalpyse is BACK! and he's gathering troops as his horsemen. He captured one person name Glazer. And then he convinced Sunfire (who recently lost his legs) to become a horseman. And a rumor is that Gambit will be converted to a Horseman as well. Pestilence has already been chosen and is running amuck.
In Addition he knows that there are only a few mutants now, and they must be filtered for the strongest.
A side story involves Apocalpyse vs Dracula. That should be interesting how that works out.
Apocalpyse is supposed to destroy many things about the X-Men. Many Foundations will be tested.
I think this will be a great story comin in. So I hope it lives up to the hype. The big one was Gambit becoming a Horseman. That sucked in alot of people to see what happens with the X-men.

Week of being Sick

Yuk. I got sick last week. So there hasn't been alot of updates. I started my Snowboard Post, but never finished. I wanted to take some pictures of my new board too but I didn't have a chance. But I'm starting to feel sick again! so I'm getting upset that I can't get well.

I'd like to thank all the jackasses who have been stealing my bandwidth. You'll be receiving a "nice" replacement picture for your efforts. I'm afraid i'm going to have to "brand" my pictures now and prevent people from hotlinking/leeching from my website. Define:Hotlinking - website-A references a picture on website-B, therefore website-A is using Website-B's bandwidth to show a picture on website-A's page. This is stealing.

So The SuperBowl 40 is done and as predicted the Steelers won. You could tell that both teams were nervous in the begining and were not executing as well as they did during the season. Seattle missed out on a potential TD (via penalty) and 2 missed field goals. Pittsburg got a very QUESTIONABLE TD on Rothesburger's TD run. But Steelers pulled off 2 TDs in the 2nd half that put the game away. It was a good game. I was going for Seattle. I can't go back on my man Shaun Alexander. After all he practically single-handedly won my Fantasy League. So at least I am a Champ somewhere. Congrats to Pittsburg they deserve the win too.

What else. Ive been workin in Hollister getting Villa & Sons's office up and running. They are almost done, though every time I come back there's something that hasn't been finished yet. I hope I can get all this stuff done soon. Besides they are paying me with money I'm using to buy my New Snowboard with. I hope I can hit the slopes!
