STICKS IN LANES!!!!

I just like to say that I am tempted to buy a ticket to Detroit watch the game and then come back. I am surprised at the lack of support from the fans in Detroit. The game wasn't even sold out! It's 20,000 capacity arena, and only 18,000+ were there? It's a playoff game! It makes the Oakland A's seem like they have a good crowd.
There's two minutes left and people are leaving in the middle of play!

There is an expectation that Detroit is going to take it all. Well supposedly. But they have a hard road going through San Jose. And it doesn't look good for them so far. Both teams played well, but below expectations. The Sharks however played a phenomenal game defensively, with Nabokov shutting the door on Detroit multiple times. But the Sharks blocked shots like there was no tomorrow. That's "Sticks in Lanes", the motto of the penalty kill. Get in there and block shots, block passes. Knock it away and out of the zone. The Sharks put on a clinic there.

Game Two is Saturday, 12:00 Noon Start. in Detroit. Its the weekend and perhaps it'll be sold out. But if you want to"join me" in Detroit, tickets are still available through ticketmaster.com.

(I'm not going, there's not enough time to make a 12:00 PST / 3:00EST start)

First Round is done

The Sharks put the beating where it counted. On The Scoreboard.
Nashville played a dirty game all series long. but the Sharks were able to do something they couldn't... WIN. Its pretty disgusting what Nashville did. Perhaps my disgust is really in the fact that they didn't have to play dirty. I was worried about Nashville. They were quick and fast and the Sharks were beaten by them pretty well. There was no need to do cheapshots. That was not what the playoffs were about. its about being intense and playing physical and laying it all out. it is not about Knee to Knee hits (on Cheechoo), or Checking from behind (on Bernier), or hitting after the whistle (on Thornton), or spearing the opposition (on Erhoff), or slashing players between the legs (on Bernier). All these things that Nashville did to irritate the Sharks.

But the Sharks held strong to their values and Character. They retaliated by winning the Series. Actually yes, they did start a brawl in Game 2 after the Bernier was knocked out of the game. The NHL made a mistake by not suspending Hartnel on the Cheechoo knee-on-knee hit. and then the Bernier Hit. So the Sharks had to make a statement that it won't happen again. And they did. The moment the NHL put down the suspension, both teams played like they were supposed to play, with their skill. And in the End the Sharks had more size, more speed, and more skill, and a "revenge" factor to win the series.

I believe Nashville could have won the series if they played their game. but they didn't, and inspired the Sharks from their dirty play to win the series and Send Nashville back home. And perhaps what people don't know is that Nashville is in danger of losing the Predators. And this series loss may be the start of the team leaving Nashville.

Other Series
Anahiem destroys the Wild. Wow. I knew Anaheim would win, but not this convincingly. They are the team to beat right now.
Detroit over Calgary. Calgary was the weaker team No doubts on Detroit's win.
Vancouver over Dallas. good series. You had it all, shutouts, overtimes, great goaltending. I'm glad Vancouver won cause that leads to:

ROUND 2:
Sharks vs Detroit. I love this matchup. Detroit has always been the "standard" of the NHL. but the Sharks played them good, taking the season 3-1. of course that doesn't matter now. it's the playoffs. But the Sharks can use their speed, and their skill to run over Detroit. I'd say sharks in 5, but give Detroit some credit.
I predict Sharks in 6 games. Besides, win it in the Shark Tank...

In the other series: I think Anaheim will win becasue Vancouver went 7 emotionally draining games. But I think Luango will keep Vancouver in it. And if he's still on, he can win this series.

Whoops. I forgot the Eastern Conference... I guess that's West Coast Biased... (They don't cover the west coast... maybe they don't know the West Exists?)
I think Buffalo Sabres over NY Rangers, and Ottawa Senators over New Jersey Devils. That'll be great, because the last time the Sabres and Senators met. It was a brawl.

Till then I'm waiting to drop the puck! Sharks vs Detroit Thursday!!!

81 Down, 1 to go

The Sharks are cruzin. They just finished a back to back with Anaheim and Calgary. And they played great. Down 2-0 to Anaheim, they scored 2 goals in the second and won in shootout. But I think the most impressive was how they got there. They took the body versus the ducks. And then Ron Wilson took a gamble in Overtime. With the Sharks Shorthanded he said "Measure Teemu's stick". He was right. the stick was too long, and Anaheim takes a 2 minute penalty. Sharks went on to the dreaded Shootout. But Teemu couldn't put his shot on net. and Andy McDonald completely whiffed and lost control of the puck on the way in. Sharks win the shootout, thanks to the gamble of Ron Wilson.

Next day Vs Calgary. Calgary hasn't clinched the spot in the playoffs yet. So they are coming full force. They tried to get rough with the Sharks. And Ryan Clowe stepped up to take the heat. Unfortuenately Dion Phenuf decided to give a hit, but not to take responsibilty for it. But Clowe did give him a good head shot to make him remember. From that moment the Sharks took over scoring 2 goals. They staggered in the 3rd period, probably from playing back to back. But when they needed it, Nabokov stood on his head and won the game.

What does that mean? Sharks are 1 pt behind Anaheim for the Division Crown. They are 2 points behind Nashville for #4 spot. If Nashville looses the last game and Sharks win last game, the sharks get #4 because they have more wins. They are 3 points ahead of Dallas. Dallas still has to play Anaheim.

Other Shark Facts about this year:
  • First Western Conf team to 51 Wins. That's amazing. 2nd to Buffalo's 52 wins (overall).
  • If you take away the point for OTL, the Sharks are in 1st in the Western Conference.
  • Both Nabokov and Toskala have 25 wins a piece. That's pretty good for a goalie rotation.
  • Joe Thornton joins Gretzky and Lemieux with back to back 90-assist seasons. Good company.
  • 26 Road Victories is tops in the NHL
  • 25 home victories is pretty good too.
The rest of the teams are all like this as well. Detroit only recently clinched the Central. Anaheim is not safe, and Vancouver hasn't clinched their division either. So it's a toss up. Down to the final game for the Sharks (Saturday) and the final NHL day (Sunday). A wild ride it is.

AVOID Round Table Calavaras Blvd

The last 2 times, I had a horrible experience at this Round table. Previously, I had ordered a personal pizza (via "4-in the net" Sharks Promotion) and a medium pizza. However we had to wait 5-10 minutes because the cashier was too busy yelling at the driver to complete our order. Completely unprofessional,

Then today, I had called in at 12:20PM to order 2-personal pizzas (via 4-in-the-net promotion) and 1 personal All Meat pizzas. I confirmed to her, "I'm getting 3 pizzas" and she said "yes, it will be 20 Minutes". My 2 coworkers and I arrived at 12:40PM. I told her I had called in and placed my order. I gave her the 2 tickets. My Coworker paid for the 3rd pizza with a Credit/debit card. However upon receiving the signature slip, we asked for a pen, the cashier said "no". We had to find a pen ourselves to sign the slip. Then she told us the pizzas will be ready in 9 minutes.

We sat down at a table that was fairly dirty. However it was the cleanest available. We could only wipe the table top down.

Then the pizza arrived: Only one pizza, the Personal All Meat. She asked us, "is that all" and I said "NO! I ORDERED 3 PIZZAS!" Then she claimed we didn't give them the Shark Tickets. But I told her I had. She went back to the counter and there they were on the counter. To top it off, the 2 Pizzas weren't even made. I checked the receipt and 3 pizzas were listed. I'm feeling really insulted. I ordered 3 pizzas, confirmed 3 pizzas, and I only got 1 pizza. And even if I didn't give her the tickets, there still should have been 3 PIZZAS made.

We finally received our last 2 pizzas at 1:00PM, signifacantly longer than I had hoped.

Needless to say, I am severely disappointed. This Round Table has been open for less than 2 years and already has major problems with the facilities and the quaility of work. I know I will have to drive further to use my Shark Tickets, but I know the service will be better than what I have received today.
