American Idol 2010; Results

well, I gotta say, that for American Idol to be hip and young, there sure were alot of old guys performing. Some of them I didn't know. Some I didn't know they were still alive. Some looked like they should be dead.

When I realized that the "interesting part" (aka the results) would be at the end, I did other stuff. I worked on my computer and loaded up Windows 7. Nice!

I came back just in time to see almost every important Idol contestant saranading Simon Cowell. Simon was overwhelmed (I think) at the response he received from the contestants and fans. His farewell speech was short. and he was Genuinely emotional.

Finally to the end. Lee vs Crystal. blah blah blah close vote. (well duh). and the American Idol is .... Lee Dewyze! wow!

Crystal blew him out of the water, but the fans choose Lee. I believe it was because Lee had improved so much, where Crystal was very good at the start, but never improved at the end. She was too consistent, and didn't show the world how she improved.

In any case, both contestants were very good and either of them could have won. They fought for a title. But honestly, I can see that Crystal will be more successful (at least initially). She is more refined than Lee.

But for now, America has voted and Lee is your American Idol 2010

San Jose Sharks 2010 Reviews - Forwards

Lets take a look at the Shark's Forwards this season:

Unrestricted Free Agents (Can sign with anyone):
  • Patrick Marleau - 44 Goals. But should have made a run for 50. He's a free agent. He'll be hard to keep. I think he is going to be gone. between him and Nabokov, i would keep Nabokov.
  • Manny Malhotra - Probably the best pick up off the offseason. Speed and Penalty Killing and faceoffs. When he was out, the team struggled.
  • Jed Ortmeyer - Inspirational player with his ailment, but he was hampered with injury down the stretch. Provided some grit, but struggled in the 2nd half of the season. Don't know if he'll be back.
  • Scott Nichol - Mr. Energetic was always playing the body and bringing energy. He is a must to bring back. He would bring it every minute he played.
  • Dwight Helminen (UFA) - A good pickup, but surprised he didn't get more calls.
  • Ryan Vesce (UFA) - He's now a Free Agent. and will probably get picked up by someone.
Restricted Free Agents (Sharks can match contract or get picks from other teams)
  • Joe Pavelski - No longer Little Joe, he's the Big Pavelski. Big goals in the playoffs though he disappeared when teams started to clamp down on his line. He is the future captain of this team.
  • Devin Setoguchi - Had his ups and downs. When he's moving fast and checking he's in the game and ready to go. But when he's being beat to the puck, he's a non-factor. He needs to learn to bring it every game.
  • Brad Staubitz - Jody Shelly's replacement needs to mature and be more selective when he defends his teammates. He will be compeating with Frazer McLaren for the enforcer spot.
  • Steve Zalewski (RFA) - Played 1 game; probably last game since he's been given plenty of opportunities.

Contracts
  • Joe Thornton (1yr) -Top Point getter for the season. Played very well. Locked in for a few more years. The best player on the Sharks.
  • Torrey Mitchell (2yrs) - First 2/3s of the season Torrey looked slow. He struggled to find his groove. But by the end of the season, he was tenacious and using his speed all over.
  • Ryane Clowe (3yrs) - HUGE along the boards. No one can get him off the puck on the boards.
  • Dany Heatley - (4yrs) 39 Goals in regular season, 2 goals in playoffs. Bad Groin Injury prevented him from being the best player in the playoffs. But he'll be back next year.
  • Jamie McGinn (1yr RFA) - He had a great preseason, then disappeared in the start of the season. Then showed up by the end, then disappeared in the playoffs. Not very consistant. We thought this would be his breakout (via consistancy) but it wasn't. Question mark for next year.
  • Frazer McLaren (1yr RFA)- Future enforcer?
  • Benn Ferriero (1yr RFA) - Made the team out of preseason, but couldn't be consistent. Maybe next year, he will know and understand how to be a complete NHL player.
  • John McCarthy (1yr RFA) - Played 1 game.
  • Logan Couture (2yrs RFA) Great Rookie prospect and stepped up. He's gonna be a good one.
It's hard to say what will happen. Keepers are Thornton, Heatley, Pavelski, Clowe and Couture. After that, everyone is trade bait. Pavelski and Setoguchi are restricted free agents and will probably get pay raises. So it will be hard to resign Marleau (and Nabokov).

Out of the Worcester Shuttle, McLaren, and Ferriero have the best shot at making the team.

I don't know how, but Malhotra and Nichol were great pieces added. They will want raises, and may not fit into the salary cap.

American Idol 2010; Final 2 Perform

So each one does 3 songs:
  • Reprise of previous week's song
  • Simon Fuller (Exec producer) choice
  • Debut single (If they win)
I got to say that Crystal is going to win this. Lee, I believe, was intimidated and overwhelmed by the amount of people in the audience. and his nerves got to him. He didn't perform as well as he could have. And his Debut Single was not that good (U2 - Beautiful Day). It was bigger than him and he couldn't handle it. I don't know why he chose this song.

On the other hand Crystal was feeling it and in it to win it. She hit everything with power and energy. All 3 songs were better than Lee's songs.

So while we have seen Lee greatly improve over the season, Crystal has been a constant Rock She has fought (last night) to keep Lee from winning it all.

Final Rankings:
  1. Crystal Bowersox
  2. Lee Dewyze
Both are going to have a great careers.

Sharks season ends too soon

I haven't blogged about the Sharks because I didn't want to jinx the playoffs. But it's over for them now. It's too bad. They really had a good year and played really well.

This year though, they went out and grinded it out every game and went further in the playoffs. They didn't get down on themselves and pack it in or depend on their "talent" and not hard work. They really went out and left it all on the ice. They didn't choke at all this year. The got beat by the better team.

Chicago had 113 points to the Sharks 114. but Chicago had more wins. So this series really was even.

Looking at the teams the Sharks struggled/fell to: Anaheim, Dallas, Calgary, Edmonton. at those times the Sharks were supposed to beat them but didn't. That's Choking to me.

You could say that Chicago dominated by a sweep, but they really didn't. Other than Game 2, the Sharks controlled and was in it all the way to the end. Game 1, Niemmi stole the game. Game 3 was an overtime loss. Game 4 just couldn't keep up with Chicago. Every game was close, and every game had passion.

So what's next? what will happen next season? I honestly don't know. All the pieces were there this year. There are alot of free agents, especially Marleau and Nabokov. So we will have to see what will happen down the line.

I'll analyze every position and give you my take on what the Sharks can do. Of course I have no idea how to run a hockey franchise. I'm just a fan. A loyal fan that went down with the ship with the team. Unlike some other fans, who abandon the team after 1 loss. Or the fan that only reads the reviews in the paper. Or the fan who doesn't know what they are talking about.

I'm still a Sharks Fan, and I'm still looking for the cup. And i can't wait for the draft and the offseason to finally begin, so the Quest can begin all over again.

Celebraty apprentice Finale!

There was alot of sympathy vote for Bret Micheals as he had a brain hemerage and lots of complications. You can tell he was not 100% in the finale. But in any case, he has been a major contributor to each and every task given to his team. Good (he was creative) or bad (his team lost) he really came through for his team and that's what kept him around.

Since it is celebrity, and all for charities, both Bret and Holly Robinson-Peete won $250,000 for their cause. There was not loser because both did so well.

But there was a title to be handed out. And that went to Bret Micheals. He really did a good job this year in everything he did so congrats. But again. both people got lots of money. so there's nothing to be disappointed about.

American Idol 2010: Final 3 Results

I admin, I fast forwarded through ALLLLLLLL the stuff to get to the end.
First Lee was put into the final 2, which leaves Crystal and Casey.

"Who will join Lee in the finals... Crystal"

"I'm safe? I'm safe?!?!" Crystal doesn't know. It's all ryan's fault too. he switches it up. "You're safe / You're eliminated"

So now it's Lee and Crystal in the Finals next week. Lets face it. It has been this way for a while. Crystal is constantly good. and Lee has grown from a shy guy to let it all out.

as for Casey, I'm surprised he got to #3. He's definitely top 6. He peaked at "Jealous man" but gradually declined. He got looks and it got him to top 3. But he did not perform, and so he is gone. also, Crystal and Lee are just that good.

Parting Shot: Punch to the gut, because I can't ruin that beautiful face of his. maybe I'll shave his head. hahahahahaha.

American Idol 2010; Final 3 perform

Final 3 choose a song and then a song from the Judges.

Rankings:
  1. Lee - BLEW IT OUT OF THE PARK. Double Home Runs. last song was a MOMENT.
  2. Crystal - Strong consistent performances. The Judges Choice was better.
  3. Casey - Underwhelmed. Both were not WOW performances.
"You (Lee) are in it to win it!" - Randy

And America agrees (well I hope so)

Survivor 20 Finale

Lessons never learned...

Poor Russell. well actually no. he's an ass. He's ruthless and evil. I can only wonder if he is really like this in real life.

Russell played his game. he backstabbed everyone, and caused alot of chaos. And in the end, the jury saw what kind of person he was. Afterall he backstabbed all of them. And so the Jury voted for ... Sandra as the winner.

Russell ended up with 0 votes. Why is that? because he did not win over the jury. Last season he said, "Yeah I lied and cheated each one of you to get to the end." and this year he did the same.

Boston Rob said it best, "He doesn't play to win the game, he plays to get to the end."

Though he is a powerful player, Rob is right. He doesn't win the jury over. But he did win the cool $100,000 for being the best player.

Now he's bitter. He was bitter last season, and bitter at Sandra, saying "She sucks." He's delusional by saying "I've only played 1 season." And now he's coming across as a sore loser. Perhaps he should figure out that being the ultimate villain didn't win you anything.

American Idol 2010; Final 4 Results

Well things pretty much went as planned.
1st Casey was told to move back to the sofa.
Then Lee was excused.

So it came down to Crystal and Mike. It would be a big surprise for Crystal to leave, but I think that means the people aren't voting for Crystal because they "assume" other people are voting.

But justice was served as Crystal continues on, and Mike goes home/eliminated.

Big Mike was good, and was saved by the Judges, rightfully so. But he really hasn't had any great performances in a while. And America's vote showed, as he was in the bottom the last few weeks. He will still be a star, but just not here on American Idol.

Rankings:
  1. Crystal - Rebounded very well and was the best of the week.
  2. Lee - Knows he can do better.
  3. Casey - Good looks are taking you far. But it's almost over for you.
Parting Shot: Pat on the back. You lasted longer than any judges save, so they know the did it right. And personally you were my favorite contestant. But I knew you had wavered. Sorry Big Mike. See ya in the finale.

American Idol 2010; Final 4 Perform

Jamie Foxx brings in "Songs of Cinema"... and everyone pretty much failed. It's a toss up and popularity contest this week.

Performance Rankings:
  1. Crystal - Decent, which is better than the rest
  2. Casey - Tried to make it better but didn't really do it.
  3. Mike - better than Lee but not great
  4. Lee - not very inspiring; also why sing a song that so many have FAILED with?
My bet is that Casey and Mike are in the bottom 2. And either can be going home. But I don't know who. Both aren't doing that great. Based on pattern, my bet is Mike.

The Duets were GREAT though. Lee and Cyrstal were awesome, better than Casey and Mike. I think that the duets saved Lee.

Reality TV Elimination Predictions

So Victoria has me watching all these Reality TV elimination shows. So here are my predictions:
  • Amazing Race 2010: Jet and Cort (Cowboy Brothers)
  • Survivor: Paverti or Sandra
  • Celebirty Apprentice: Bret Micheals (though he is ill)
  • American Idol: Crystal Bowersox
As we now know, Jet and Cort didn't win Amazing Race, though they dominated almost every leg of the race and were almost eliminated, but saved. They really did have an amazing race.

The winners were the Brothers Dan and Jordon. one of them was gay (can't remember) but they where whining the entire time yet stuck through it and made it in. Good show by them. I would have rooted for them if they didn't whine so much.

Which are you watching? and who is going to win?

American Idol 2010; 5 Perform Results

Crazy results. I didn't see it coming, but I think it's a popularity vote.

First Lee is Safe.
Then Crystal and Casey are split into 1 group; Mike and Aaron are in the 2nd.

Ryan says that Crystal and Casey are... SAFE (surprise!!!) These 2 were my bottom 3 in performances.
(about now is when I was told that they do bottom 2). These 2 were my bottom 2 in performances!

decide between Mike and Aaron. And Aaron is going home.

Overall Rankings
  1. Lee - Now convincingly the Front Runner in the competition
  2. Crystal - 2 average performances. Better wake up and make a move!
  3. Mike - Surprised he was bottom 2
  4. Casey - Surprised he wasn't in Bottom 2
Parting Shots - Punch to the gut. At least that's what Aaron probably felt since he performed better than Crystal and Casey.

Next week: Songs of Cinama with Jamie Foxx.

American Idol 2010; 5 Perform

Harry Connick Jr mentors for Frank Sinatra songs
Rankings for the night
  1. Lee - Had the moment of the night, he's in it to win it.
  2. Mike - If Lee didn't go last, Mike would have been the man.
  3. Crystal - Maybe out of her place, but she's leveled off. Hopefully the next week she rebounds
  4. Aaron - Tried really hard and it showed. But I think it was hard for someone so young to perform a Sinatra song.
  5. Casey - Completely uncomfortable. He's on his way out
This was a hard week that pushed people into areas that they were not comfortable or familiar with. It's obvious who is the top two out of this week. The bottom 3 is obvious for this week. And now it's a tough choice because they all are very good. But this is the breaks of the game.
